Life moves along...
A few new things since last time. It has been forever since I updated this journal.
I did a few scenic designs for the stage which I will post soon. I went on a cruise to Alaska which was AWESOME. I suggest everyone see Alaska once before it all melts :)
I've become a Judge for Photohunt at http://chat.deviantart.com/chat/PhotoHunt You should play, it is total fun and pushes your creativity to another level.
A beautiful day here in sunny Southern California. I feel like the luckiest man alive...

Terra Nova
Not the song but the play...
I am taking a self-imposed vacation from my design business to find other avenues to make happiness and fulfillment occur in life. Sometimes making a floor plan for a trade show just doesn't make me happy.
I had the opportunity to help out in a production of the play Terra Nova performed by a local theater company. I was able to produce the video slideshows that ran in the production of Terra Nova. That made me happy.
I took production stills (out-take above shot through a scrim) which were challenging since the lighting was "stage" lighting and odd in color. Still, it made me happy.
And, I got a gig as the Pr

Biologists in the Vegas rain forest...
Revisiting some of the images I took while in Vegas, I was struck by the vast range of people one runs across concentrated in so many square meters.
Sort of like biologists in a rain forest. These biologists lay down four sticks that make up a square meter and count how many species of plants and animals they can find within those boundaries -- usually hundreds. In Vegas, one can do the same thing, say in a square block, and come up with an equally wide variety of species. Be they poor, rich, drunk, sober, dirty, clean, society, backwoods, large, small, attractive, repulsive, local, foreign, retired, w

The WHO of myself...
A few weeks back, I made one of my semi-monthly trips to Vegas for work -- trade shows and such. While there, I had a chance to relax for a change and try some new things. I'm not sure they were as successful as I wanted them to be. It's hard for me to connect to an object to shoot. I much prefer to connect to a person and capture WHO they are. I'm not sure of the WHO in an object. Maybe, I need to see how that object makes me feel and try to capture it using the WHO of myself.
I'm not sure if that makes any sense. It sort of does to me. I guess it really boils down to looking and feeling.
Here are a couple of four-pat

I love your esthetic and vision for your sets. I have been creating sets locally for music theater as well as opera. I have really enjoyed the process of bringing my daydreaming to life and inviting the audience into the story. I have so much to learn and it seams that each set I make I am figuring it out along the way. I don't know any others like me so It is great to see you doing this amazing work. It is very inspiring. I am currently racing the clock as I am in the midst of building a set and could not have access to a construction area or stage until 4 days ago and opening night is in less than a week. Though I am currently burned out I know that I will be jumping back in again. I can't seem to stay away.
