Musical Direction by Jon Lorenz. Choreography by Colleen Kollar Smith. Costume Design by Jeanne Reith. Lighting Design by Nathan Peirson. Sound Design by Deborah Gilmour Smyth. Scenic Design by Mike Buckley. Stage Manager: Maria Mangiavellano

I was the Video Projection Designer/Engineer and Properties Designer for this production.
Nominated for a San Diego Theater Critics Circle Award for excellence in Projection Design.

Joe Banks, trapped in monotony, learns he is afflicted with a ‘brain cloud’ and is on his way out. He quits his job and finds the courage to ask out his co-worker, Dede. Joe goes on to take the offer of a wealthy merchant to “Live Like A King” and then… jump into a volcano. Every question you may or may not have about what follows is answered quite delightfully in this production!"

Challenges:
— Over 60 video/jpg cues loaded into qlab with about half being Quicktime movie files created in Final Cut.
— Had to time out specific video lightning strikes to the live music. Yikes!
— Used two 3500 lumen projectors and lined the images on top of each other to double the brightness.
— The show really hinged on giving the audience a sense of place with the projections.
— Made a rotating lampshade lamp using an old battery operated motor and hi intensity LED flashlight (oh, and PVC pipe parts).
— Again, another severe time constraint on this show. I was fairly satisfied withe the end result.
